What is TOEFL?

Test of English as a Foreign Language is a standardized English language test. The American Educational Testing Services (ETS) is the developer and curator of the test.

I have a certificate issued in foreign language courses. Do I also need TOEFL?

A certificate from a local language school only proves that you have completed a course at that school. Instead, the TOEFL certificate is an official certification of your level of knowledge of the English language.

Where can I need TOEFL?

You must do with a TOEFL certificate when applying for admission to colleges and universities in the USA and Canada. TOEFL is recognized in education, business, and science in English-speaking countries, in particular in Great Britain, and, in addition, in 130 non-English-speaking countries of the world. The TOEFL certificate is required to work in government structures, receive educational grants, and apply for US citizenship.

What is needed to get a TOEFL certificate?

It is necessary to take the exam in an authorized institution, having previously registered and paid for participation in the testing.

How to prepare for the exam?

This can be done at the Just In Time Foreign Language Agency. Our teachers have experience in preparing for the TOEFL test, and the curriculum is designed to cover the necessary range of knowledge and consolidate language skills. You can also prepare independently with a private tutor or at other language agencies.

How does the TOEFL exam take place?

The exam consists of four parts (Reading, Structure, Listening, and Writing) and lasts three to four hours. The exam is usually computer-based.

How are the results of the TOEFL test evaluated?

You cannot “fail” the test – you can only get more or fewer points. The maximum total test score is 120.

Where can I take the test?

In one of the official test centers in Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia.

Who checks the works?

The ETS testing service checks the participants’ work and issues certificates.

When will I receive my certificate?

The official result can be obtained approximately two to three weeks after passing the exam (not including the delivery time of the certificate to Ukraine).

How to register for the test?

The easiest way is on the official ETS website. Registration ends seven days before the exam date. You can choose the test date on the official TOEFL website. You can also register by phone or by sending documents by mail.

How to pay for participation in testing?

By bank card: American Express, JCB, Discover, Visa, or MasterCard; using PayPal; using an electronic check (if you have a US bank account). Taking the exam in Ukraine costs 180 USD.

Does the TOEFL certificate have an expiration date?

The certificate is considered valid for two years.
